Z-TRIP voted America’s Best DJ for 2009

ABDJ Awards Ceremony and Closing Party Set for The Palms Hotel & Casino Las Vegas—With Paul Oakenfold’s Planet Perfecto party!

Port Washington, N.Y.--The votes have all been counted and it's official--DJ Times magazine and Pioneer Pro DJ are proud to announce that Z-Trip has been voted America's Best DJ for 2009.

The talented Los Angeles-based jock will be honored September 12 in Las Vegas for the ABDJ Closing Party, which will include a press reception at Ghost Bar in The Palms Hotel & Casino. After being presented with his trophy--a special Gold-Plated Pioneer mixer--Z-Trip will perform with Paul Oakenfold at the Rain Nightclub for the Planet Perfecto party, one of America's wildest nights out.

"It's an honor to be ranked No. 1 by the people," said Z-Trip (aka Zach Sciacca), "especially considering all the incredible talent out there these days."

Additionally, a lucky ABDJ voter (plus a guest) will be flown to Vegas for the festivities--will it be you? Stay tuned. We'll announce our Grand Prize winner very soon!

2009 AMERICA’S BEST DJ FINAL RESULTS

Winner -Z- Trip

An early leader in the mashup movement, Z-Trip can entertain almost any crowd—he’s opened for The Rolling Stones and played with jam bands at the Bonnaroo Festival. The Los Angeles-based turntablist was also featured heavily in Doug Pray’s terrific documentary, Scratch. His Uneasy Listening collaboration with DJ P remains a hot eBay item.

Check Out Z-Trip's Myspace here!

Second Place-Steve Porter

Another true mobile-to-global story, Porter honed his studio skills and eventually gained notice from top touring jocks like Chris Fortier. Soon his energetic remixes and sharp original productions found themselves in sets by Carl Cox and Paul van Dyk. Over time, his Porterhouse mix CDs and club nights, which showcase his driving dancefloor sound, have solidified his status as one of America’s Best DJs

Third Place- Dj Qbert

A genuine DJ legend, Qbert is a turntablist who makes other jocks stand back in awe. Hailing from the San Francisco area, QBert gained fame as a competition-winning battle jock and as one-fifth of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz DJ crew. Always the innovator, QBert’s repertoire of scratches and other tricks has won a global following of fans and vinyl-fetish DJs.

Check Out DJ Qbert's Myspace here!

Fourth Place- Kaskade

A DJ whose profile continues to rise, Kaskade (aka Ryan Raddon) has become one of our most in-demand club talents. As evidenced by his terrific recent artist CD, Strobelight Seduction, a slew of high-profile remixes, and a series of dance chart hits—“Everything,” “Stars Align” and “Move For Me” (with Canada’s Deadmau5)—Kaskade stands as one of America’s most prolific remixer/producers and most popular homegrown DJs.

Check Out Kaskade's Myspace here!

Fifth Place- Scotty Boy

Another DJ with wildly diverse tastes and talents, Scotty Boy has become one of the DJ Kings of Las Vegas. In addition to playing several radio shows and Sin City residencies, Scotty has become best known for the infamous Rehab pool party on Sundays at the Hard Rock Hotel.

First and foremost I would like to say it's a pleasure taking part in Hipster Frenzy's blogging extravaganza and thank everyone in Hipster Frenzy for giving me the opportunity to contribute in this musical revolution!

Now for the fun part! There's a Snake Charmer somewhere in the streets of Los Angeles but only thing is he doesn't really charm snakes but he might charm you! The name says it all, he is influenced by many genres but his inspiration comes within to satisfy his ears and the ears of many with his hypnotic experimental sounds. Here are two of his latest tracks. Enjoy!

So since i'm really stoked to see my fav duo the Bloody Beetroots, might as well blog one of their tracks right now, a new hip hop lyrical track that uses Public Enemy's lyrics, gives it a good step up from all the other tracks that involve rap and electro. Also I have a track from Life Express as they Remix one of Dada Life's tracks "Happy Hands and Happy Feet". Nice vibes, sounds, beats, lyrics, all of the ingredients for a great track to spin!

Enjoy!

To promote their upcoming full-length album Love The Future, Chester French has teamed up with mixtape DJ Clinton Sparks to collaborate on a star-studded mixtape called Get Familiar with Chester French: Jacques Jams Vol. 1, Endurance. The group has acquired a growing celebrity buzz since Love The Future was recorded, so the new Jacques Jams raises the bar, with guest artists like Diddy, Jermaine Dupri, Pharrell, Janelle Monáe, Bun B, Talib Kweli, The Clipse, Cassie, Solange, and more.

Clinton Sparks & The New Music Cartel Present... Get Familiar with Chester French: Jacques Jams Vol. 1, Endurance will be available for free download April 6th at www.chesterfrench.com/mixtape, www.clintonsparks.com and www.newmusiccartel.com. Get Familiar with Chester French- Jacques Jams Vol. 1: Endurance

Chester French & Clinton Sparks prepare the release of a musical masterpiece full of endurance with assistance from Diddy, Pharrell, Jermaine Dupri and more at www.chesterfrench.com/mixtape.

On April 21st Chester French will release their debut album Love The Future (Star Trak/Interscope Records), and in preparation for that event they've decided to treat their current and future supporters to a FREE ALBUM of brand new exclusive records that will tell the Chester French story and leave no doubt that the world must GET FAMILIAR with the greatest new group of 2009.

For the past two months Chester French has been working with Clinton Sparks, one of the world's hottest DJ's/producers, on a full-length mixtape called: Jacques Jams, Vol. 1: Endurance. With nothing but a handful of instruments and some weightlifting equipment, D.A. and Max of Chester French holed up in the woods of Western Massachusetts and created a collection of original tracks, all written, arranged, produced, and engineered by the duo.

Unlike their upcoming album, which includes no guest artists, Jacques James, Vol. 1: Endurance features collaborations with an unprecedented roster of eclectic artists, including Diddy, Jermaine Dupri, Pharrell, Janelle Monáe, Bun B, Talib Kweli, The Clipse, Cassie, Solange, and more. Together, Chester French, Clinton Sparks, and this galaxy of superstars will paint an epic picture of Endurance and Normalcy available for download at www.chesterfrench.com/mixtape. By the end, you will truly understand that Chester French and Clinton Sparks are just three totally normal guys doing totally normal things.

Jacques Jams, Vol. 1: Endurance is unlike a traditional mix-tape wherein a DJ chops up a bunch of new records and throws them on a CD. Clinton Sparks once again has taken mixtapes to a new level complete with skits and interludes that humorously get you familiar with Chester French's story, from Max and D.A.'s freshman year at Harvard to their signing with Star Trak/Interscope records after hip-hop heavyweights like Kanye West competed to sign them in one of the biggest bidding wars in music industry history.

So don't miss out on this exciting and amazing FREE ALBUM available April 6th from three totally normal guys that do totally normal things, available at www.chesterfrench.com/mixtape, www.clintonsparks.com and www.newmusiccartel.com. Also log onto these sites to see behind the scenes footage of studio sessions, photos, the band's performance with Paris Hilton & Clinton Sparks and the mixtape's cover shoot at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Hey guys check out FreQ Nasty! We beyond enjoyed it and we know you will too!!!! Mad dope!!!!

Peacemaker (DUB) - FreQ Nasty vs propa Tingz
*********************

FreQ Nasty’s back and he’s pushing a new sound that’s destroying underground clubs around the world. Continually shape shifting under the wide umbrella of bass culture, FreQ Nasty forever stays one-step ahead of its ongoing hype-fuelled evolution. From garage, breaks to dubstep FreQ Nasty’s at the forefront of the freshest beats around. Armed and ready for battle, FreQ Nasty comes at you with a hot new mix for Fabric and an exclusive free download of “Peacemaker (DUB)” – a brand new track culled from his much-anticipated new artist album.

Bridging the gap between the most current scenes in London’s bass culture, FreQ Nasty rumbles with underground thunder on the recently released FABRICLIVE 42, a staggering showcase of some of the rawest breaks-led beats around. Evading the pitfalls of a genre-controlled mix, yet at the same time avoiding the stop-start feel of a “mash up” mix, on FABRICLIVE 42 he’s imaginatively arranged a flowing, tightly connected blend of FreQ-y tracks. With the bass heavy stomp of L-Vis 1990’s UK take on Baltimore house, the blistering shatter of TRG and several of his own storming productions, including his Santogold hit “Creator,” the mix is a terror to bassbins worldwide.

"The Fabric mix is a kind of reference to some of the stuff I have loved recently and where I’ve intersected it in the past in my own work. There’s a ton of good music out there right now; sick beats and heavy bass lines of all styles, and the mix is a snap shot, pieces of music at a place and time that move me. The album is trying to bring it together in one place and make sense of it, to digest it all and spit it out as something that is more than the sum of its parts. Essence d'FreQ for 2009," FreQ Nasty says.

Speaking of sick beats and heavy bass – that what FreQ Nasty vs Propa Tingz - “Peacemaker (DUB)” is all about. This is the dub version of a track appearing on FABRICLIVE 42 and it offers the most current look into FreQ Nasty’s sound and his forthcoming new artist album. This collaboration with hot up and comer Propa Tingz starts innocently enough with signature ragga piano stabs before the bass shoots off and rips the cheeks right off your face. It’s quintessential FreQ Nasty and a must-listen.

When not making music FreQ Nasty spends his time trying to change the world for the better. In 2007, he co-founded www.giveback.net to encourage artists and their fans to create positive change in the world. Not only does it allow users post links to articles about the news and events they are passionate about (and not often available in the mainstream media), it also facilitates campaigns to allow musicians to use exclusive and rare tracks to raise awareness and money for the issues they care about. Check out FreQ's campaign with Michael Franti of Spearhead, or the Water Of Life download album featuring Damien Marley to help support the creation of vital clean water supplies to a village in Ethiopia. Both are free downloads at www.Giveback.net

Their having their best of 08' over at Vimby.com.
But what their not mentioning is the fact that Vimby is just over a year old. It started in October of 07 and, thus far, has posted over a 1000 high quality, streamable, embeddable, videos of underground and suburban counter-cultural events. With close to a hundred "Preditors" around the country creating all their own content vimby is the perfect place for serious film makers to bring the production, editing, and directing skills to the world without sacraficing the quality and quantity of a site like the tube. Big ups to Vimby for keepin sh*t so clean.

***********************************

South Central marks the North American release of its debut CD The Owl Of Minerva with a little treat dance music fans across the world will wanna have! Yes, it’s Josh Wink’s timeless 1995 smash “Higher State of Consciousness” beaten to a dizzying pulp by South Central. The best part? The track is FREE for you to download and share with your friends. Be sure to check out the brand new video for the complete experience.

The Owl of Minerva is a collection of South Central’s finest work of the last two years; music that’s never been available on CD or mp3. This collection not only acts as a must-have for fans and DJs, but also bringing the South Central story right up to the present and paving the way for the South Central debut album in 2009.

Shrouded in mystery (and indeed their trademark black hoods) the enigma that is South Central manifests itself as both a 2-man DJ/Production duo and as a 5-piece live band; the former spectacularly dissolves the boundaries of what DJing and live music are. The latter is the cowled synthesis of guitars and technology that combines the spirit and song of indie rock with the pounding electronics of big-room techno. But there’s also an unpredictable side to the live show. The band does a killer rendition of Josh Wink’s “Higher State Of Consciousness” (available on the CD) and recently performed a live cover of Daft Punk’s “Da Funk” in Paris of all places! The live show is so good that Does It Offend You, Yeah? tapped South Central as the main support act  for it’s October UK tour while Pendulum scooped them up as support for its current UK tour. No surprise then that both the indie kids and the danceheads have signed up for more.

To date, South Central has remixed artists including KlaxonsVan SheThe Whip,MetronomyShy ChildMaccabees and Shitdisco, among many others. South Central’s bootleg of Klaxon’s “The Bouncer” was such an underground success that even UK radio stalwarts XFM’s John Kennedy and Radio 1’s Pete Tong picked up on it. And for your viewing pleasure we offer a link into South Central’s $36 dollar budget video for it’s debut single“Nothing Can Go Wrong” (click here to watch), which received constant rotation from MTV UK, in addition to traditional support from Annie Mac and Steve Lamacq on Radio 1.

The Owl Of Minerva is out now on Egregore Music.
